The Taos Soil and Water Conservation District accepts applications year around for Cost-Share Projects. This cost-share program is for Taos County property owners who wish to make improvements to their property that would fall within the realm of conservation. If a property owner is awarded a cost-share project then they are reimbursed for 85% of approved costs, not to exceed $3,500.
What this means for Taos Ski Valley residents is that if you wish to thin the trees on your property or work on the dead or decaying growth in an attempt to secure a “fire wise” environment around your home, you may be awarded one of the cost-share projects available. Some homeowners have already taken advantage of this program.
