New Business
A. Enchanted Circle Festival –
July 29th.
This event will not happen if the Carson National Forest is closed to all activities in Stage 3 at the time of the scheduled festival. TSV Inc. said there will be no camping on their land by chair 4. This was clarified after the end of the meeting. Private security was discussed in the event the festival happened.
B. Event cancellations due to
fire restrictions
More planned special events may be cancelled if Forest is still closed. These would include all events scheduled to happen during this time.
C. Limited Personnel – Plan?
There is no plan. If the festival on the weekend of July 29th happens, the following Fire and EMS personnel (combined) that will be available are: Nick Bender, Fire department; John Duncan, EMT-B, Gene Mortimer, Fire and EMS; Mary Mortimer, Fire and EMS, Chris Stagg, fire and EMS, and Ramey Stevens, Law Enforcement.

VI. Miscellaneous
A. Beaver Pond
The Village Council requested this item be put on the Public Safety Committee Agenda, so we did.
Gene Mortimer had suggested some time ago, that we dredge the Beaver Pond so helicopters could use this facility to fill buckets in the event of a forest fire. The power lines are gone over the pond, but tall trees and power lines are still on the NW side of the pond. The land may be owned by the Village, the Forest Service, and TSV, Inc., combined. Don Schieber has this item on his list of things to do and he has planned to purchase a machine that will collect silt after the Beaver Pond is dredged. This would prevent the Village from having to dredge it repeatedly. The Army Corps of Engineers would need to be involved and perhaps they have some funds that could pay for this project.
VII. Date, Time, and Place for the Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Public Safety Committee will be scheduled for the Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at the Village Offices.
