II. Recertification/Training Update – Kathy/Carl Gilmore
Kathy commented that we are pretty recerted out. Most EMS volunteers have just sent in their license renewals. Carl said he was holding an EMS First Responder Course and Wilderness Responder Course starting April 17th for 4 days, and continuing April 30th for 3 days. The courses will be held in Tenderfoot Katie’s Cafeteria and the Looking Glass. Several people outside of Taos Ski Valley have signed up for the course.
III. General Announcements
A. Stray Dog EMS Fundraiser/Kathy
Kathy reported that the EMS Fundraiser raised $1137.00 from that evening’s fundraiser. She received $2,050 from private donations afterwards. This brings the grand total to $3,187.00. Kathy thanked Ericka and everyone who helped out with the fundraiser.
Dave said the yellow truck currently in the substation is being worked on and will be given to the Town of Questa. He said at that time Medic 311 will be moved to a bay in the main fire station and all medical supply cabinets will be moved to the main fire station.
C. EMS
Electronic Reporting
Dave said he is now reporting all runs electronically to the Bureau and he said it going well. All run reports should be put in Dave’s box at the Village office.
Dave said all EMS personnel needs to be certified with NIMS. All EMS responders need to do Course #100 even though some have done Course #700. Once completed it will be automatically recorded by NIMS. This course is available on-line. We must comply to be eligible for FEMA funding should we need it. There is no deadline so far. Contact Dave for details.
Dave said this may or may not happen in August. He will have more details at the next meeting. If the Rally happens it will be held on July 31st and August 1st. As many EMS personnel as possible needs to be available for this rally.
F. Clinic Alarm Code Changed
The code for the clinic has been changed. The new code will be located on the visor in medic 311.
Dave said there is a Planning Meeting scheduled for April 20th, at 16:00 hours prior to the regularly scheduled ECEMS meeting. A tabletop drill will be held sometime before Memorial Day. Dave also announced that LifeGuard fixed wing is to be contacted for all air resources. The number is in the disaster plan.
Kathy suggested that the EMS group purchase an AED from Carl Gilmore to be placed at the St. Bernard. She stated why this is needed and Quigley said he would talk to Jean Mayer about it. The staff could be trained in how to use the AED.
Dr. Quigley Peterson reviewed the runs from the group that occurred since the last meeting. The first run was a 42 y/o male with a medical problem; the second was a male in the parking lot that had fallen and had cuts and abrasions to his forehead. Quigley talked about a run with a little child.
Nothing specific was talked about. Kathy thought we were pretty refreshed out because everyone has just recertified. Carl again mentioned the April Classes.
VII. Announcement
of date/time/place for the next meeting
The next meeting of the EMS Department is to be determined, but it will probably be sometime after Memorial Day at the end of May.
