II. Various Topics
Gene & Mary Mortimer said the EMS Conference in Albuquerque was awesome and really good. Dave said the course completion certifications and CPR cards are in the mail; people are fully certified. General announcements included the NIMS project. Dave suggested a winter class for class 700 or 100 and then people can do the test on line. If you are in process of doing this, keep going. He said that on 9/29 and 10/3 there will be extrication training.
III. EMS Revised Schedule
Dave revised the EMS “on call” schedule. The new schedule is as follows:
Sunday Dave Wallace/Brian Wallace
Monday Neal King/Dawn Boulware
Tuesday Dave Wallace/Hanno Blake/Chris Stagg
Wednesday Mary Mortimer/Al Johnson
Thursday Erika Gunter/Aline Robertson/Lincoln Landis
Friday Gene Mortimer/Mary Mortimer
Saturday Neal King/Kathy Bennett
Dave Wallace is drafting the Operations Plan for this event. Dave is the Incident Commander; Neal King is the Planning Coordinator; he will be conducting a briefing before the event. This event starts at 10:00 a.m. Law Enforcement will be Ramey Stevens, and six other law enforcement officers from the State Police and Taos County. The Communications post will be at the Guard Shack; the ambulance will be by the clinic. Channels in use will be Mountain channel 1, and Fire channel and State Police channels. Dave is hoping to get help from the Marshal in Red River.
Patrick Ludwig reported on the EMS part of the festival. He said there will be a MASH Test set-up with cots, tables, cops, etc. He wants to keep it simple. EMS volunteers will be 2 in the tent, 2 traveling, and 2 if needed for transport. He said 6 people for 6 hour shifts. Neal King got a list of volunteers for the event. Patrick said he expects about 1,000 to 2,000 people at the event; 500 or less if there is rain. Will stop selling tickets at 4,000 people. 200 tickets have sold so far. A fundraiser opportunity was discussed. Quigley suggested a “tip jar.” A Polaris 6x6 was discussed if a patient is down; this could be a transport. It was decided to order “support EMS” shirts; Mary Mortimer said she would do this. There will be a meeting at the clinic after 3:30 to discuss equipment, etc.
Dr. Peterson reviewed several run reviews. These consisted of lost hikers at Frazer; no real medical emergency here. He also talked about a 14 y/o biker and a 65 y/o biker; a 69 y/o woman at the St Bernard concert, a car race accident, a seizure at the St. Bernard, and a 4 y/o girl who hit her head on the steps. Refusal forms were discussed and C-collars were discussed for Law Enforcement vehicles. Carl Gilmore said he has newer heartwells out there; we should consider this.
