Water System Update:          Staff has recently been hard at work trying to fix a PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) located in the Beaver Pond area.  Unfortunately this proved impossible and we have to replace it.  Our new Master Water Plan calls for the replacement and relocation of the PRVs in our water system so we have asked our engineer to provide plans for replacing and possibly relocating the defective PRV so we don’t have to move it again later.  This has become a number one priority project as it severely affects our fire suppression capability in the village core.

As many of you probably noticed, during the repair period, all water to the lower village was cut off.  This really underlines the Master Plan suggestion for a separate holding tank for the village core.  This would have prevented the shut off as well as providing better pressure for fire fighting.  I have asked staff to gather the necessary facts and figures so we can see how and when we can build the tank for the village core.

Trash Compactor:      The compactor was jammed again by people putting non household trash into the compactor.  This time it was construction debris.  Staff will be obtaining better cameras for the recycle area and wastewater plant so we can monitor that area more effectively.  I would like to ask all residents to please only put household trash in the compactor, if it isn’t in a trash bag it probably should not go in there.

On a more positive note the recycle area is now paved and fully back in business.

Village Administrator:           We are currently advertising in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and ICMA for a new manager.  We will be meeting in just under two weeks to start the selection process.  Tom Wittman has again agreed to head the selection committee so if you have thoughts or questions please contact Tom or myself.
