ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT

AUGUST 2009

The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Users Authority continues to delay the funding awards from NMFA for the Water Trust Board.  Their complaint was scheduled to be heard on the 29th, but was postponed to mid- or late August.  In the mean time we received bids for the Village Core system, which we will discuss under another agenda item.  Many other municipalities across the state are upset with the award process, but no one will step up.  I have expressed my dismay to them.

We have started construction on the replacement building and expect the slab to be poured this week.  We are still awaiting survey data for the Kachina tank.  We are ready to go to bid on the centrifuge sludge drier.  Some minor changes in the specs are being made.  The Environment Department has reviewed and we ready to go.  Some ARRA funds have become available and I sent out an application packet on Friday.

The Forest Service wrote back with regard to the Kit Carson line extension, saying we needed a NEPA process for approval.  I replied with a copy of their regulations that said this type of project was a categorical exclusion and to please give us a decision letter.  I have yet to receive one and will follow up with a letter to Kendall Clark, Forest Supervisor.

We still have to do some work in the office and I hope to get on it soon.  The Mayor has spent many a day at the office, pulling and re-routing wires for our computers and servers.

The Wheeler Peak depositions went fine, if a bit tedious and boring.  I plan to be out of the office and in Michigan beginning the 10th and returning the 15th.
